Privacy Policy — Everyday Cats

Everyday Cats (“we”, “our”, or “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, your rights, and how to contact us. By using the Everyday Cats mobile application or services (the "App"), you consent to the practices described below.

2. What We Collect

We collect the following categories of data to operate and improve the App:

• Camera images & visuals: Photos or live camera frames you capture or that the App analyzes to detect objects. These are used to generate in-app reactions. We avoid storing raw images long-term unless you explicitly upload them or record content to share.
• Microphone audio: Short audio recordings you permit (for creating clips). Audio is recorded only when you press record or otherwise explicitly grant permission.
• User Content: Clips, edited videos, images, captions, and any content you create and share via the App.
• Usage & analytics: App usage logs, feature usage, crash logs, device type, OS version, and anonymous identifiers to improve stability and product features.
• Account data: If you create an account or provide an email, we store basic account info (email, display name, local preferences).
• Diagnostics: Crash reports and performance data for bug fixing and reliability improvements.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use collected data for these primary purposes:

• Provide and maintain the App’s core features (object detection, reaction generation, in-app recording).
• Process purchases and manage subscriptions via the platform store (Google Play).
• Improve the App (analytics, A/B tests, model improvements) using aggregated and de-identified data where possible.
• Deliver personalized reactions and storylines based on recent interactions and device context.
• Diagnose and fix technical issues, monitor performance, and prevent abuse or fraud.
• Respond to support inquiries and comply with legal obligations.

4. Third-Party Services & Sharing

We rely on third-party service providers to operate the App. These may include (but are not limited to) Google Play services, Firebase / Firestore for storage and auth, cloud hosting providers, analytics providers, and model/AI vendors. Those providers process data on our behalf and are contractually bound to protect it.

We may share personal data in the following limited cases:

• With service providers who help deliver the App (hosting, analytics, payments).
• To comply with laws, regulations, legal process, or to respond to lawful requests by public authorities.
• To protect our rights, safety, or property and that of our users.

5. Photos, Camera Frames & Model Training

The App analyzes camera frames locally when possible to detect objects. If you explicitly upload an image or record/share a clip, that content may be stored. We may use aggregated, anonymized data or uploaded content to improve object recognition or the reaction models, but we will not publish personally identifiable media without consent.

If you prefer that we do not use your uploaded content for model training or product improvement, email publicstring.care@gmail.com with the subject line "DATA OPT-OUT" and include your account identifier.

6. Retention

We retain your data only as long as necessary to provide the App and for legal or legitimate business needs. Typical retention periods:

• Usage and analytics data: retained for up to 24 months (aggregated earlier where feasible).
• Uploaded user content you share (clips/photos): retained until you delete it or until account termination; we may keep backup copies for a reasonable period.
• Account information: retained while your account is active and as required for legal or tax obligations.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights including:

• Access: Request a copy of personal data we hold about you.
• Correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate data.
• Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data (subject to legal retention obligations).
• Portability: Request a machine-readable copy of the data you provided.
• Objection/Restriction: Object to or request restriction of processing in certain cases.

We implement reasonable organizational and technical measures to protect personal data. However, no system is impenetrable. If a security incident affects your data, we will notify you and regulators as required by law.

We may transfer and process your data in countries other than your own (for example, cloud hosts). When we transfer data internationally, we take steps to protect it (contracts, encryption, or relying on legal transfer mechanisms).

12. Automated Decisions & AI

The App uses AI models to generate object reactions. These are automated outputs based on the detected object and context. They are creative/entertainment content and not professional advice. You can request human review by contacting support if you believe an automated output is harmful or inappropriate.

13. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy. We will post the revised policy in the App and on our site; the "Effective date" above will reflect the latest version. Continued use after updates means you accept the new policy.
